SHAFER VINEYARDS FEATURED IN PARKER'S THE WORLD'S GREATEST WINE ESTATES
Calls Hillside Select one of the most prodigious Cabernet Sauvignons in the world
Napa Valley, November, 2005 – Shafer Vineyards is pleased to have been selected as one of a few wineries worldwide to be featured in Robert M. Parker, Jr.’s new book, The World’s Greatest Wine Estates.
“The Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select, one of the most prodigious Cabernet Sauvignons in the world, is indeed a wine of its place of origin,” writes Robert Parker in his new book.
Parker features Shafer among the 156 wineries from around the globe, 23 of which are from the U.S.
Parker lists Shafer’s great recent vintages as: 2003, 2002, 2001, 1999, 1997, 1996, 1995, 1994, 1992, 1991, 1985, 1978
“… there’s no question,” he writes, “that since the early 1990s, the quality at Shafer … has resulted in some of the world’s greatest wines.”
2003 Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon
“… exhibits a surreal elegance, restraint, and beauty that comes across as a hybrid blend of a great Médoc and a Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon … reveals style, nobility, and character …”
2002 Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon
“… more muscular and flamboyant than the structured and restrained 2001 … boasts an explosive nose … full-bodied, extravagantly rich, opulent, dense, chewy … a fabulous finish …”
2001 Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon
“ … a potentially perfect wine in the making. A skyscraper that builds in the mouth with multiple dimensions, amazing layers of flavor, great delicacy, and tremendous purity … This prodigious Cabernet Sauvignon is about as good as Cabernet can be.”
The World’s Greatest Wine Estates, $75, is published by Simon & Schuster and available in bookstores nationwide.
