SHAFER VINEYARDS DONATES $25,000 TO SUPPORT ST. HELENA FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER

October, 2007 – Shafer Vineyards is pleased to announce a $25,000 gift to St. Helena Family Resource Center (SHFRC), an agency that works to benefit the lives of working families in Napa County’s upper valley communities.

The Shafer gift to SHFRC will help support the nonprofit’s goal of connecting community members to the information, support, guidance and services they need to enhance and enrich their lives. More specifically the Center offers or directs clients to resources that help them manage their money, enhance mental and behavioral health, and offer methodologies for self-improvement.

The Center can help match people with specific needs to service providers including WIC, Children’s Health Initiative, Alateen, Legal Aid of Napa County, Fair Housing Napa Valley, the Wolfe Center and many others.

“There’s a healthy trend in the nonprofit world toward coordinating services among various agencies and we applaud the efforts of the St. Helena Family Resource Center for its efforts in this area,” says John Shafer, chairman of Shafer Vineyards.

Shafer Vineyards has a long-term commitment to philanthropy that is directed at benefiting the Napa Valley community. Previously the winery has given gifts such as this to Napa-area nonprofit agencies including The Wolfe Center, If Given A Chance, Napa Emergency Women’s Services, and Calistoga Family Center.

“This is a tremendous contribution that will assist so many families in our community. We strongly believe that our community becomes stronger by enhancing the lives of all its members,” says St. Helena Family Resource’s Executive Director Dan Melligan on the recent Shafer gift.
